About The Conference
The first BM PRIMAT2026 (Primatology, Communities Engagement and Conservation Futures) aims to bring together voices from across disciplines and regions to strengthen collaborations between scientists, social scientists, local communities and conservation partners in developing sustainable and community-centered strategies for the future of primate and habitat protection.
BM PRIMAT2026 distinguishes itself by integrating scientific primatology with social and community perspectives, offering a holistic approach to primate conservation and sustainable futures.

Themes
1.Behavioral Ecology, Genetics and Physiology
This theme explores how primates interact with their environment and how biological factors such as ecology and genetic shape their behavior and physiological responses. Topics may include feeding ecology, genetics, DNA metabarcode social systems, reproductive behavior, and responses to environmental change. Understanding these aspects helps improve conservation planning and the long-term survival of primate populations.
2. Captive Management
This theme focuses on effective care and management of primates in ex-situ environments such as rehabilitation centres, zoological institutions, and conservation facilities. Topics include enclosure design, enrichment, veterinary support, and breeding management. Good captive management supports animal welfare, education, and conservation programs.
3. Veterinary Care & Emerging Disease
This theme highlights the importance of veterinary science in maintaining primate health and preventing disease transmission. Topics may include disease monitoring, emerging infectious diseases, wildlife health management, and veterinary interventions in both wild and captive populations. Effective veterinary care is essential for safeguarding primate populations and supporting conservation efforts.
4. Conservation & Welfare
This theme addresses strategies to protect primate species while ensuring their welfare in both wild and managed environments. Discussions may include habitat protection, rescue and rehabilitation, ethical care practices, public awareness and welfare assessment. Integrating conservation science and welfare principles is vital for the long-term survival of primates.
5. Ecotourism, Community Engagement & Social Dimensions
This theme examines how community participation and responsible ecotourism can support primate conservation. Topics may include environmental education, community-based conservation initiatives, and public awareness programs. Engaging local communities helps promote sustainable livelihoods while protecting primate habitats.
6. Policy, Government & Sustainable Development
This theme explores the role of governance and policy in supporting primate conservation. Topics may include wildlife legislation, conservation policies, international collaboration, and sustainable land-use planning. Strong policy frameworks and cooperation among stakeholders are essential for protecting primate ecosystems.
7. Education & Environmental Management
This theme highlights the role of education and environmental management in promoting primate conservation. Topics may include conservation education programs, habitat management, and strategies to reduce human–wildlife conflict. Increasing awareness and responsible environmental practices can strengthen long-term conservation efforts.
